Peter Mathews

Physical Therapist & Strength and Conditioning Coach
Peter Mathews is a Physical Therapist and personal trainer and has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry. An original member of the DSC Team, his vast clinical experience combined with his background in an elite athlete make him an exceptional coach and therapist.
A successful distance runner at both national and international level, winning 9 national titles for cross country and track. He has represented Ireland on several occasions, finishing 10th in the European Championships and 22nd in the World Cross Country Championships. His competitive nature still flourishes and more recently he has had great success at Master’s level, winning the British & Irish international Cross Country Championships on two occasions. Pete still runs recreationally and is now involved in coaching young athletes with his club DSD.
Throughout his career Peter has gained invaluable insight into managing many sports related injuries as well as treating both acute and chronic day to day injuries in athletes and non athletes alike. He has a keen understanding of movement mechanics and exercise based rehab. Pete has worked with the Dublin Senior Football Teams and Scottish Rugby Team. He has gained a great reputation for treating running injuries from amateurs to professionals and unquestionably has a pair of the strongest hands in the city!
Pete is a vastly experienced and popular coach and enjoys supporting clients with engaging strength and conditioning training programmes. His gym based technical expertise and unique coaching ‘vocabulary’ make him a firm favourite in DSC. Just don’t touch his food!!
